And the Winner is . . .

Every year we eagerly wait for that ONE glorious day, the day when the entire who’s who of Hollywood gets all decked up to attend the most prestigious award ceremony of the past 86 years. Yes, of course I am talking about none other than the Academy Awards aka The Oscar’s (what else could it be post Oscar weekend *sigh*)! I don’t know about any of you out there but I was up at 5:00am in the morning to see it all go down. There is nothing more exciting than sitting down with a nice cup of coffee, some munchies and the Oscar’s in all their glory. From the beginning to the end this is one of the most fashionable and charismatic experiences to come out of Hollywood. Each celebrity is dressed impeccably and gathering to celebrate their peers, their competitors, the creme de la creme of movies as we know them.

Some highlights from the night would be Jennifer Lawrence, yet again, tripping and falling on the red carpet (I have a feeling this is rehearsed now) and Ellen DeGeneras getting Pizza for everyone! This year has yet again brought around some beautiful images and memorable performances to celebrate the greatest movies to come out in the year 2013. The list of nominees was as always the complete A-List! But I won’t bore you with all that, lets get to a much needed round up of what went down. Lets start with (obviously) the red carpet. Here are some of the best dressed according to me:

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock wore a navy blue strapless gown by —— and did it do absolute wonder for her neck and chiseled jaw line? Oh yes!. I am floored at this brunette beauty and her gorgeous red carpet look. Every time the camera would focus on sandy the countless times Gravity won an Oscar all I could look at was that fabulously flawless smokey eye, blended to perfection with a blue eyeliner just made her eyes pop paired with nude lips. Her loose curls added just the elegance to her relaxed look. An amazing choice when it comes to hair and makeup, further extenuated her red carpet look. To me; she was perfect

Lupita Nyongo

Lupita Nyong’o wore a pale blue plunging Prada gown with a Fred Leighton headband and jewellery. For someone who had no clue they were going to come out such a big winner at the Oscar’s, Lupita looked sublime. A daring color choice, her dress was just the right about of simple, yet just as daring as Lupita’s acting. Of 12 Years A Slave Fame, Lupita was also this years Best Supporting Actress and very well deserved. With a beautiful Leighton headband to go, the hair was done well. In lesser words for someone who picked a simple look for a glorious night, she carried it with complete panache.

Cate Blanchett

The WINNER for the night, none other than the amazing Cate Blanchett wore an Armani Privé embellished gown. Her hair was done in a slight wave with one side tucked behind her ear to let her gorgeous Choppard opal drop earrings shine in their glory and a jeweled bracelet to accent her wrist. With a nude base for her gown and sheer lacey fabric accentuating her shoulders, they kept the make up subtle. A nude lip paired with a clean and natural look and a simple eye – well done make up team, well done. Once again not anticipating a big win Cate walked away with Best Actress in a leading role. Win, win.

Those were the top three red carpet ladies according to me, there were many other lovely ladies dressed to impress, some of the regulars worth mentioning are Jessica Lawrence in a red Dior gown with a subtle orangey red lips, dramatic eyes and beautiful jewelry to go with it.naomi watts keeping it fresh in calvin Klein with the perfect red lip. And last but not least I must mention one major disappointment and I am sad to say this but I expected better from Angelina Jolie, I mean she’s got Brad Pitt on her arm and that man can’t ever look bad so, maybe next time!
Matthew McConaughey won his first Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity and 12 Years a Slave were winners all night. And I am pretty excited that this years Best Animated Film went to none other than Frozen, the first Disney movie ever to not let a man be the hero! (Yay!) Simply putting it, one satisfying night at the Oscar’s and I must also add the first ever to lead to one EPIC, star filled selfie! Ellen Degeneres FTW! Well, that’s all from my desk on the Oscar’s, untill next Monday, have a fabulous week!
